Hands Off Demonstration Washington DC
Share
By chance, I happened to be in Washington, D.C., on April 5—the day of the Hands Off protest. We joined the thousands who had gathered in our Nation’s Capital to raise their voices in defense of democracy. The spirit of “We the People” was alive and powerful.
From concerns about DOGE and immigration to fears over economic instability and the erosion of civil liberties, people marched shoulder to shoulder, united by a common purpose. Together, we voiced our alarm over a president whose government seems determined to dismantle democracy piece by piece—undermining our laws, education, the free press, public health, and the humanitarian organizations that support people across the globe.
But collective action is our strength. Our power lies in unity. “We the People” can defend our country from the slow creep of fascism—if we refuse to back down.
Every protest I’ve attended over these past few months has renewed my hope. Change is possible. We can do this. And we must keep fighting.
